Photos like this make me want to hire a car and go on a road trip. I would love to leave this town behind and escape to somewhere new. There is nothing like the open road, it is so full of possibilities.
A few years ago I went on a road trip across country with a few friends, camping and staying in motels or just sleeping in the car. Next time we might buy or rent a van and chuck a mattress in the back. We took it in turns driving and kept the stereo on full blast.
Time seems to stretch out before you like the road and there is always something interesting to see out of the car window. It always feels like an adventure, perhaps I’ve seen too many road movies.
The key to a great road trip is choose your fellow travelers wisely. Any annoying habits become infuriating after days of driving, confined in a small space.
On that note, choose your car carefully. If your car tends to breakdown every 100 miles then rent something a bit more reliable. A convertible car is great if you are driving in the USA or somewhere warm but in Europe you’ll need something a little more rain-proof.
